With real stories from real schools, this book offers an alternative vision of school improvement. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, author Nelson Beaudoin presents practical strategies which put students first. The real-life examples in A School For Each Student place students at the center of the equation and treat them as individuals who are born to learn. Written as a resource for professional development, this book study tool provides a refreshing look at the possibilities of student and educators.

Also featured are the 12 R's, which include being Reflective, Rigorous, Respectful, Responsive, Resilient, and more.

With more than thirty-seven years of experiences in educational leadership, Nelson Beaudoin brings practical and exciting ideas to the discussion on school reform. His work is guided by the belief that leaders should listen more than talk, care more than judge, and understand more than guess. Beaudoin has led two high schools through a Comprehensive School Reform grant. His schools have received national recognition both as a Service Learning Leader School (2001) and as a First Amendment School (2004). He was selected Maine's 2000 NASSP Principal of the year. He has presented his message on inspirational leadership, the magic of student voice, and creating a culture of change throughout the country. His faculty's work on Professional Learning Communities, Student-Led Conferences, and Student Engagement has been replicated in numerous schools. His first book, Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone: Lessons for School Leaders, demonstrates that great things can happen when school leaders refuse to settle for business-as-usual. His second book, Elevating Student Voice: How to Enhance Part Icipation, Citizenship and Leadership, shows schools how to empower students. This book explores factors that lead to greater student success, a success achieved by changing the focus of schools from 'all' students to 'each'D; student. Beaudoin is currently the principal at Kennebunk High School in Kennebunk, Maine.
