Little Gnouf and Mirabelle are ecstatic! They are going to see the sea for the first time in their lives; however, they never expected to find a young whale caught in a fishing net and washed ashore when they arrived.

With the help of some new friends, the Gnoufs start devising a plan to free the little whale and get him back to the sea he calls home, but for two little Gnoufs, rescuing a whale is a big task. Mirabelle and Little Gnouf are determined to help, but are they up to the task?

Dominique Demers, author of over 25 beloved picture books, writes with heart, bringing to life a story of courage, compassion, and friendship.

Award-winning illustrator, Gabrielle Grimard, perfectly captures the magic and intrigue of the sea with vibrant illustrations that highlight the text.

A journalist, children's literature specialist, and critic for the Books section of Le Devoir for 15 years, Dominique Demers lives in the world of writing and children. A simple story told to her children on a rainy day resulted in her first novel being published. Years have passed since then, and Dominique has acquired a reputation and won numerous awards.  Her picture books are filled with themes of hope, friendship, and empathy that delight children and parents alike.   Gabrielle Grimard transformed her love of design into a career in illustration over the course of her studies at Concordia University and the University of Quebec. In 2018, Gabrielle’s picture book Stolen Words won the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Award and was a finalist for the TD Canadian Children’s Book Award. Not My Girl was a USBBY Outstanding International Book. Her creativity has been applied to children’s publishing, advertising, and educational contexts.
