An earnest search for the truth behind the tragic death of Formula One legend Ayrton Senna – a catastrophe that still holds unanswered questions.

By veteran journalist Franco Nugnes, who worked for Italy’s motorsport bible, Autosprint, at the time of Senna’s passing:

  • Three decades on, Nugnes endeavours to get the inside story of that fateful 1994 event from some of the key figures, and to reconstruct what happened that day
  • He interviews the likes of Andrea Ficarelli (Senna’s discoverer), Angelo Orsi (his close confidant), McLaren team coordinator Jo Ramírez, engineer Giorgio Ascanelli, Cesare Fiorio (head of Ferrari), Jean Todt (former Ferrari technical director), Luca di Montezemolo (former Ferrari president) and former racing drivers Riccardo Patrese and Érik Comas
  • He also obtains special insight from the doctor who tried to save Senna’s life
  • This book does not seek to sensationalise, but tries to uncover the true facts through a meticulous investigation

A must-read for all Formula One and motorsport fans, this compelling book strives to bring us a better understanding of the tragedy.

Franco Nugnes began his sports journalism career at the newspaper Il Secolo XIX, before joining the magazine Autosprint (Italy’s motorsport bible), beginning a 20-year collaboration that took him from trainee to deputy editor. Later, he helped start the weekly magazine SportAutoMoto, and was editor of the monthly Velocità. Today, he directs the Italian edition of motorsport.com, the global information network with 18 offices worldwide.
