Sugar is becoming a real problem in Sheffield and we want to get on top of it. Sheffield is Sweet Enough is a community campaign aimed at helping families to reduce their sugar intake and it's the inspiration behind this fabulous little book of ideas. We've asked local parents, students, nutritionists and business owners to share their low-sugar tips and recipes so that everyone in Sheffield has the best chance of making better choices on sugar. In this book, you'll find ideas to fuel every food choice including weaning, breakfasts, lunchboxes, snacks, and family meals. In Sheffield, 1 in 5 pregnant women are obese and 1 in 4 children are overweight or obese when they start school. There is also a worrying level of tooth decay with over 2,000 children being hospitalised to have their teeth removed in the space of just one year. The Sheffield is Sweet Enough campaign has been launched to help families avoid the dangers of too much sugar by sharing interesting facts on different foods, recommended daily limits, low-sugar swaps and recipes. We want to ensure that everyone who would benefit from the content in the book has access to a copy, we are therefore running a buy-1-give-1 scheme where for every book purchased, we will give one away for free to someone in the community. The free copies of the book will be available at places such as community centres, schools and libraries across Sheffield.
