Take a trip back to Trotter Street in this classic, beautifully illustrated collection of four favourite stories for first readers.

This heart-warming collection of four beautifully-illustrated stories follows the activities and experiences of children and their families living in a multicultural urban street. Written and illustrated by one of the world’s favourite picture book authors and touching on everyday themes in a child's world, these engaging tales are sure to become best-loved stories for first readers and their families alike.

Shirley Hughes has illustrated more than 200 children’s books and is one of the world's most beloved writers for children. She won the Kate Greenaway Medal twice and was awarded a CBE for her distinguished service to children’s literature. In 2007, her beloved picture book, Dogger, was voted the UK’s favourite Kate Greenaway Medal-winning book of all time. As well as her best-loved picture books, Shirley also wrote novels for children; the first, Hero on a Bicycle won the Museum of Tolerance: Once Upon a World Children’s Book Award in 2014. Her second novel, Whistling in the Dark won the Young Quills Historical Fiction Awards in 2016.
