Navigate the hardest choice a parent can make TFMR – Terminating a pregnancy For Medical Reasons – is a common form of baby loss, yet still taboo. This book provides practical advice, expert insight and compassionate support. Rosanna Brown was 22 weeks pregnant with her son William when she had to terminate for medical reasons. She shares her story, weaving in case studies of other parents and advice from healthcare experts – including for those who carry to term post-diagnosis. The book explores: Diagnosis: 12- and 20-week scans, plus later diagnoses The end of your baby’s life: the medical process and saying goodbye Emotional and physical aftermath: bodily changes, coping with trauma, returning to work, receiving the post-mortem Grieving together: the relationship with your partner, parenting other children, finding community, other pregnancies and moving forwards with happiness and fulfillment. With advice for parents, medical professionals, friends, family and employers, this is a comprehensive and essential guide to breaking the silence of TFMR – and rediscovering hope.
Rosanna Brown lost her baby to TFMR in 2023 and turned to writing to work through her loss. Through her writing, she has raised money for the hospital where she gave birth, and for charities such as ARC (Antenatal Results and Choices). Her first-class honours degree was in English Literature and Media, and for more than twelve years, she worked as a secondary school English teacher. She is now devoted to using her words to support those going through TFMR.
