Emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills are fundamental to a child's success both inside and outside the classroom. Integrating social and emotional learning (SEL) into education helps students develop self-awareness, empathy, and responsible decision-making. Social and Emotional Learning Strategies explores research-based practices for fostering emotional well-being, resilience, and positive relationships in schools. The book discusses classroom interventions, mindfulness techniques, and the role of teachers in modeling SEL competencies. It also addresses how SEL supports academic performance and school climate. Through practical frameworks and case studies, it offers educators effective tools for cultivating emotionally intelligent learners prepared for lifelong success.
Sue Strickland-Lord is a college lecturer in Social Sciences, lecturing for over twenty years in several UK colleges. She specialises in Criminology and has a 1st Class degree in Criminology from the University of Winchester and a MSc in Criminal Justice, with merit from the University of Portsmouth. Sue achieved particularly high grades in her dissertations with pass percentages at 85% and she has been able to pass on those skills to many of her students who have excelled in their educational achievement. Sue works hard to introduce students to the world of Criminology and inspires students to research the subject thoroughly and understand it fully to support their own academic writing. Many of her students have gone on to gain their educational aspirations and go on to work in areas such as criminal justice, policing, law and prison services. Her own career as also included working with vulnerable victims and writing educational programmes within prison reform.
