To what extent should spiritual information be part of patients' medical assessments? How should physicians respond when patients refuse life-saving care on religious grounds? Michael N. D'Ambra, M.D., is a cardiac anesthesiologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital and an associate professor of anaesthesiology at Harvard Medical School.
