Alan Jay Zaremba earned his PhD from the University of Buffalo and his MS and BA from the University of Albany. He has been teaching at Northeastern University in the Department of Communication Studies since 1981. From 1976 until 1981 he was on the faculty at the State University of New York College at Fredonia. He is currently the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Curriculum and Research for North-eastern’s College of Arts, Media, and Design.Dr. Zaremba has twice earned Northeastern University’s Excellence in Teaching Award, is a recipient of the State University of New York’s Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, and in 2001 was one of two alums who received his alma mater’s excellence in education alumni award. In addition to his work in the department of Communication Studies, Dr. Zaremba conducts workshops in Professional Speaking for the university’s Executive MBA program and developed the College of Professional Studies’ programs in corporate and organizational communication.He is the author of five other books, including Crisis Communication: Theory and Practice, and Organizational Communication. His book on sports fan subculture—March Madness: Bonding and Betting with the Boys in Las Vegas—was published in 2009. In August 2008, he was the keynote speaker at the Eighth Annual International Conference on Knowledge, Culture, and Change in Organisations held at Cambridge University.
