‘The St Martin’s Mystery’ is an exciting and highly imaginative story. The characters find themselves in unexpected territory when a case of fraud and murder is subverted by the spirit world in 1930s London.

Former mining engineer Robert Erskine is hired by St Martin’s Bank to investigate the disappearance of several senior staff. Erskine tracks down Amanda, a former girlfriend and fellow engineer, who is visiting London from South Africa. Erskine and Amanda set out to solve the case, but there are otherworldly forces at work which they must face to succeed. Damaged by life experiences and challenged by the human and inhuman, Erskine and Amanda uncover a fraud which has gone beyond simple theft and claimed the lives of both the innocent and criminal.

Neil Ewing spent his entire career in the Lloyd’s of London insurance market, meeting many of the ‘characters’ introduced in ‘The St Martin’s Mystery’, and working in the world in which the story takes place. Born in West Africa, but having spent most of his life in Kent, this is his first novel. There will be further cases for Erskine.
