A laugh-out-loud tale of young love from the bestselling author of the Mr. Gum series.

Sterling Thaxton is in love. In love with Lizzie Harris – the beautiful new girl. Her hair is the colour of magic. Her nose is as sweet as music. Her arms are as slender as rainbows. Problem is, she’s not interested. Luckily a small yellow canary turns up with some excellent advice.

Particularly suitable for readers aged 9+ with a reading age of 7.

Andy Stanton is the multi-award-winning author of the beloved and best-selling Mr Gum series. He was the overall winner of the 2007 Red House Children’s Book Award and in 2008 won the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. Andy lives in North London and he hosts a podcast, Ask the Nincompoops with Carrie Quinlan. He also wrote the book and lyrics for Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear – The Musical!, a show that premiered in 2019 at the National Theatre.

Ross Collins describes his younger self as looking like a currant bun and being very fond of drawing. He is still fond of drawing and is now an award-winning author and illustrator, but no longer bears any great resemblance to baked goods. His picture book The Elephantom was adapted by the National Theatre. Ross lives in Glasgow.
