Born in Liverpool in 1965 David Buckley has written eight books including two on David Bowie: The Complete Guide To The Music Of David Bowie (Omnibus Press 1996) and Strange Fascination - David Bowie: the Definitive Story (Virgin Books). Strange Fascination has sold in excess of 50000 copies worldwide. The Guardian called David 'the best of Bowie's umpteen biographers.' Other works are the official biography of the Stranglers No Mercy (Hodder and Stoughton) a biography of R.E.M. Fiction - an Alternative Biography (Virgin Books) The Thrill of It All - the Story of Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music (Andre Deutsch) Elton: the Biography (Andre Deutsch) and Kraftwerk: Publikation (Omnibus Press). David is a regular contributor to Mojo magazine and has written press notes and booklets for EMI for Bowie's back catalogue reissues. He has appeared on British TV and radio on a number of popular music programmes including Channel 4's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. In 2013 he gave the closing lecture at the Victoria & Albert's record-breaking exhibition Bowie Is. He also worked for many years as a part-time university lecturer and tutor and has written for various academic publications including Larousse The Year's Work in Critical And Cultural Theory (Blackwell) The New Grove Dictionary Of Music and Musicians and The Encyclopaedia Of The Popular Music Of The World (Continuum).
