Filled with light, love and birdsong, Swallow's Kiss is a wonderfully uplifting story that explores the common threads that connect our communities, inspired by writer Sita Brahmachari's and illustrator Jane Ray's experiences as artists-in-residence at the Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants. For young readers age 7 and up.
Sita Brahmachari is a writer of plays, short stories and novels for children and young adults including The River Whale, Where the River Runs Gold, When Secrets Set Sail, Corey’s Rock and Worry Angels (with Jane Ray), Jasmine Skies, Kite Spirit and Red Leaves. She won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize (2011) for her debut novel Artichoke Hearts, her novel Tender Earth was honoured by IBBY (2018), and she was a World Book Day 2021 author. Sita is an Amnesty International Ambassador and, working alongside Jane Ray, is writer-in-residence at the Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants. Jane Ray has illustrated over 50 picture books for children including The Unicorn Prince (with Saviour Pirotta), Corey’s Rock (with Sita Brahmachari), Hummingbird (with Nicola Davies) and The Tempest (retold by Georghia Ellinas). She’s been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award six times, and was the IBBY UK Illustration Nominee for the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2018. Jane is also an artist-in-residence at the Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants. Both Jane and Sita live in North London.
