She has a background in youth work, including facilitating personal, social and health education (PSHE) programmes and developmental group work and providing one to one support to vulnerable young people. Mary Ryan was a youth worker and a sexual health counsellor before becoming a project worker for young people’s health and for then special needs sexual health. Mary is now an independent management consultant working on public health and children and young people services. She has written widely on young people’s health for NCB.
