The Definitive Field Guide to Effectively Navigating Faith and Work (By Someone Who Is Not Good at Either)

Jealousy. Selfishness. Greed. Stale breakroom donuts. Work is not the easiest place to practice our Christian faith. In fact, sometimes it can feel like faith and work are about as far apart as Medieval re-enactors and brussels sprouts (although both are equally annoying).

Thank God It’s Monday(?) explores the 24 (give or take) most common conflicts between faith and work, describing how the author did the opposite of what he should have done, but found encouragement through Scriptural insight to do better next time. Thank God It’s Monday(?) is your handy handbook to pull out after a frustrating e-mail exchange or a difficult conversation with the boss.

Here’s one reviewer’s take:

“This book is a must read for almost everyone. It guides you through almost every aspect of pitfalls you face at work. It also gives you positive goals to pursue to make your workplace better and more Christ centered. Some things you may already know, but many things in the book force you to stop and rethink the way you live.”

For anyone who struggles to live out their faith at work, this book has stuff about that.

Tom Petersen has struggled to balance his work and faith ever since he caught himself drinking most of the product of his own lemonade stand at the age of seven. He hasn’t seen much improvement over his years of work as a daily newspaper journalist, political campaign press secretary, agency public relations representative, and utility communicator. Currently based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tom has found the humor in the struggle and grown in his faith in the process, even if the results aren’t evident.
