The master criminal who can't be caught
The Infallible Godahl is a self-proclaimed master criminal – with the most perfect criminal mind ever devised whose Watson is the writer Oliver Armiston. It is Godahl's credo that, if he thinks a problem through to its logical end, he will never get caught or more precisely – " not only never been caught, but never even been suspected of a crime."
This volume collects the six Godahl stories.
"Frederick Irving Anderson… is one of the distinguished short-story writers in the history of the American short story in general, and the short crime story in particular." – Otto Penzler
Frederick Irving Anderson (1877–1947) was an American journalist and short story writer, born in Illinois. He wrote many short stories for magazines. He published two books on farming and only three works of fiction during his lifetime, leaving most of his stories uncollected in magazines. Both his 'anti-hero' characters Godahl and Sophie Lang (which became a movie series) manage to outwit the law.
He was previously married to Emma de Zouche and on her death relocated to Vermont. He died on 24 December 1947 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA.
