Colin Turbett spent a long career as a front line social worker in the West of Scotland and retains some involvement in that field, having authored a number of published academic papers and books related to his work. As a lifelong motorcyclist with an interest in social history he is the author of _Motorcycles and Motorcycling in the USSR 1939-1990 - a Social and Technical History_ (Veloce) and _Playing with the Boys - Olga Kevelos Motorcycle Sportswoman_. He has long held an interest in the history of the Soviet Union and its people. Following the publication of _Red Star at War_, this is his second book for Pen and Sword.
