For years, readers wrote asking if Richard Bachman was really world-bestselling author Stephen King writing under another name. Now the secret is out - and so, brought together in one volume, are these three spellbinding stories of future shock and suspense.

The Long Walk: A chilling look at the ultra-conservative America of the future where a gruelling 450-mile marathon is the ultimate sports competition.

Roadwork: An immovable man refuses to surrender to the irresistible force of progress.

The Running Man: TV's future-favourite game show, where contestants are hunted to death in the attempt to win a $1 billion jackpot.

Publishers Note: Includes The Running Man which is also published as an individual book.

STEPHEN KING is the author of more than seventy books, all of them worldwide bestsellers.

During the years 1966-1973, just before he published the seminal masterpiece Carrie, Stephen King wrote under two names.

Under his pseudonym Richard Bachman, King wrote horror stories for magazines, followed by a series of novels, first published in the early 80s in the collection The Bachman Books.

It was on publication of his next novel Thinner that people realised the author was in fact Stephen King. Some of King's recent No. 1 bestsellers are Billy Summers, If It Bleeds, The Institute and The Outsider.

Many of his titles are the basis for major motion pictures, TV series and streamed events, including the classic film Stand By Me (adapted from The Body), Apt Pupil and The Shawshank Redemption, which is IMDb's top-rated movie of all time.

King is the recipient of the 2020 Audio Publishers Association Lifetime Achievement Award, the 2018 PEN America Literary Service Award, the 2014 National Medal of Arts, and the 2003 National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. He lives in Bangor, Maine, with his wife, novelist Tabitha King.
