The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight – otherwise known as the BBMF or simply ‘the Flight’ – is based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. Its collection of five Spitfires, two Hurricanes, a Lancaster and a Dakota, performs at flying displays the length and breadth of Britain during the summer air shows. Its Lancaster bomber is rare indeed, being one of only two airworthy examples in the world. In this book acclaimed aviation photographer, Richard Winslade has drawn together a selection of his very best photographs, showcasing one of the world’s most important collections of airworthy historic aircraft. This lavishly illustrated tribute combines Richard’s stunning colour photography with a personal and insightful narrative. His involvement with the Flight over many years enables him to give us a unique window on this priceless national treasure.
