Best known for his picture book collaborations with Julia Donaldson including The Gruffalo and lift-the-flap series Tales From Acorn Wood, he is also the illustrator of wonderful novelty and gift books for Macmillan, such as The Bedtime Bear and Who’s Hiding on the Farm? Born in Hamburg, Axel now lives with his family in London.
