A swallow flits from here to there seeing the events of the Christmas story unfold. This captivating picture book has a well-written narrative that uses repetitive phrases to engage young readers, introducing Biblical truths about the birth of Jesus, as rescuer and born from God. The excitement of the shepherds and the heart-warming visit of the wise men are brought to life with the vibrant colours and radiance of the illustrations by Estelle Corke. Ideal for sharing with young children aged 3+ years during the Christmas season.
Ben Harris is the translator of the Latin edition of Julia Donaldson’s award-winning story of The Gruffalo, which draws on the language and style of the classical poets to brilliantly capture the rhythm and mischievous spirit of the original story. He is editorial consultant for the University of Cambridge School Classics Project and as a freelance writer publishes reviews and articles in the Evangelical Quarterly. Estelle Corke has a degree in Graphic Design from Bath College of Higher Education 1992. She works as a freelance illustrator for advertising agencies, packaging and magazine publishers, and can illustrate in all types of media, but since 2001 has concentrated on children’s book illustration, using a rich, painterly style with gouache paints.
