The traditional utility Land Rover remains as much an enthusiast's choice as ever now that its production has been ended. Between 1948 and 2016, there was a far greater variety of models produced - an astonishing 300-plus - than even the most ardent enthusiasts recognise, and this comprehensive and highly illustrated book is a guide to all of them - both those built in Britain and those built (often with unique features) overseas. Laid out with an easy-to-follow catalogue format, this book offers masses of detail on both production variants and also on many that never went beyond the prototype stage, as well as on the multiple special editions that were sold around the world in more recent years.
James Taylor has been writing about motoring history since the 1970s; he has written well over 100 books and spent ten years as the editor of Land Rover Enthusiast magazine. He has written very widely for both magazines and books on motoring subjects but has specialized in the history of Rover cars and Land Rovers. He has owned four Range Rovers as well as a variety of other cars, and continues to write for the motoring press both at home and abroad. His previous books include Rover V8 The Story of the Engine, FactoryOriginal Ford Capri Mk1, FactoryOriginal Mercedes SL, FactoryOriginal Aston Martin DB4/5/6 and FactoryOriginal Mini Mk1 & Mk2. James lives in rural Oxfordshire with his wife and the younger two of his four children, surrounded by books about cars, and usually with something old and interesting in his garage.
