Der vorliegende Band, der auf ein Panel des SBL International Meetings 2019 in Rom zurückgeht, bildet aktuelle Diskurse der Psalmenforschung ab. Die vergangenen Jahrzehnte waren geprägt vom Paradigmenwechsel von der Formen- und Gattungskritik hin zu unterschiedlichen Entwürfen einer Exegese, die das Umfeld der Einzelpsalmen im Psalmenbuch in die Arbeit einbezieht. In jüngerer Zeit wird darauf verwiesen, dass der komplexe Befund der Handschriften von der Antike bis zum Mittelalter nicht zur Vorstellung eines fixierten kanonischen Textes passt, den manche Entwürfe voraussetzen. Die Beiträge des vorliegenden Bandes verbinden solch grundlegende Überlegungen mit Einzeluntersuchungen zu Psalmengruppen. Mit unterschiedlichen methodischen und hermeneutischen Zugängen eröffnen sie dabei Perspektiven auf die Zusammenhänge von Entstehung, Komposition und Rezeption der Psalmen.
