What do roller coasters, monkey bars and water slides all have in common? How about firemen, soccer coaches and teachers? Join Andy in The Growing Bed to learn why sometimes eating all your vegetables just isn’t quite enough to get what all little boys and girls desire.

Nearly every parent struggles with getting their child to sleep throughout the night at some point in their child’s life. Nearly every child wants to “get bigger, faster.” The Growing Bed is a children’s book that addresses both pain points through the main character Andy. Andy is a boy that isn’t quite tall enough to do many fun things, like ride a roller coaster or water slide. He thinks he’s doing what it takes to get bigger, like eating his vegetables, but his Mother explains to him that the best way to grow bigger is to sleep all night in his own bed. She gives Andy many examples of other people he knows and admires that sleep in their own bed, all night long. The uniqueness of The Growing Bed is the “magic” it gives to something very ordinary, a child’s bed. Nearly every child has their own bed, so therefore nearly every child has their very own Growing Bed!

Rebecca Linney is a Mompreneur (entrepreneur AND mom!), authoring her first children's book after struggling to find a way to get her young son to sleep in his own bed throughout the night. As a longtime resident of San Diego, CA, Rebecca graduated from CSUSM with a BFA in Communication. Landing speaking roles at San Diego StartUp Week and onsite at USD, Rebecca inspires others struggling and tired parents to appeal to their child’s sense of empathy and desire to grow up. Charlie LaVoy is an award-winning visual artist based in Marquette, Michigan. Graduating from the University of New Orleans in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Film, Theatre, and Communications Arts and a Minor in Fine Arts, he worked in the media industry in New Orleans for ten years as an Illustrator, Graphic Artist, Animator, Production Designer and Director. By 2018, his focus had narrowed to Illustration and Animation, and he moved back to Marquette to work remotely. Charlie’s animation work won two Silver Awards at the 2020 American Advertising Awards, and his illustrations fill the pages of the children’s books Please and Thank You by Sarah Bock Waggenspack and Aubrey and Daddy Have a Talk by Luvenia Hankins.
