1882, Scotland—The long-forgotten auld alliance between king and fey is shattered. Men of science and powerful barons vie for control over the future. When the brilliant Sir Walter Conrad uncovers a mysterious new energy source, it promises to reshape the world—topple nations, and bring untold power to whoever controls it. But this discovery comes at a perilous cost. As Conrad begins to harness the energy, ancient forces stir. An eldritch evil begins spreading its corrupt influence across the Highlands. And the fey—once thought to be myths—are far from gone. Effie of Glen Coe, a half-fey outcast, is the Empire's last hope to stop the rising darkness. Thrust into a deadly race against time, Effie must uncover the source of this growing menace before it consumes both human and fey realms alike. As she battles ruthless lords hungry for power and evades the queen’s relentless enforcers, Effie discovers that the key to saving them all may lie in an ancient truce no one wants—and no one believes in. With Scotland on the brink of collapse, Effie must decide if she’s willing to risk everything—her heart, her loyalty, and her very soul—to prevent a catastrophe that could destroy both her world and the fey. If you love fast-paced historical fantasy with dark magic, forbidden alliances, and a heroine who will fight to the death to protect her people, don’t miss this thrilling adventure.
