This book takes child-friendly themes and suggests ideas for turning these into large-scale collaborative projects with real impact. The ideas are starting points and the emphasis is on problem solving, collaboration and thinking skills rather than the end product, although photos of already completed projects help to inspire along the way! Mariette Heaney worked as a primary school teacher for 13 years until September 2007 when she began working in the Foundation stage. She has recently had an article published in the Refocus Journal (Spring 2009, Issue eight) called "What's the problem, guys?" which looks at supporting children's development when resolving conflicts and is based on her Nursery's experiences with conflict resolution.
