And I know then what the Night Whale is saying. I understand. "Anything is possible."
A grandmother and grandchild look out for the Night Whale, a magical sky being last seen when Nana was a child herself. The story transports the reader off to a world of wonder and beauty, as they soar over cities and landscapes on the back of the Night Whale, far away from home and back again.
This is a beautifully lyrical and stunningly illustrated picture book about adventures and moving on, helping children to come to terms with saying goodbye, and the majestic Night Whale's reassuring message is that anything is possible.

Bryher Mackenzie is a collector of words and supervisor of lunches. When they are not tying laces, zipping zips or debating the tastiest flavours of popcorn, Bryher can usually be found where picture books are. Bryher likes to read and write stories with big feelings, and the Night Whale is their debut picture book. Their Instagram is @bryherandherbooks.
Gillan Eilidh O'Mara is the illustrator of a number of picture books, but The Night Whale is her first one in this scenic, atmospheric style. In addition to illustrating, Gillian has co-founded and grown several social ventures including a poetry festival, children’s literacy projects, charity building projects in India and a fine tea company supporting girls' education.
