Unless one ignores the power of fiction in shaping society…
When JT ran away from the police to avoid incarceration for a crime perpetrated against him, he found his entire world crumbling around him. The incident caused his fall from grace from his promising career as a medical doctor and inspiration in his native village to the cruel realities found in the real world. His survival and late surge on a world stage was received as a cold bath by his critics.
The Other Citizen tells a story of perseverance, determination and a dejection of doom and gloom that only serve the cause of despots that decide on which citizens live or die.
Former news editor, Brush Oulai began his professional journey as a statistical analyst. He later moved to a business development role to support struggling businesses in his capacity. As chair of a London-based business club, Mr Oulai provided professional advice to club members to level up entrepreneurship in deprived communities.
His experience in the Drug and Alcohol Team with the National Health Service, however, changed his approach to life. He began to question the role society plays in the making of citizens. He concludes that ideology could be the blurring line between the world of possibility where individuals thrive and the systematic world where individuals strive as they conform. His views are echoed in the Other Citizen, an illustration of social imprints on each one of us.
Mr Brush Oulai graduated from the University of North London in Business Studies. He holds an MBA Finance from Oxford Brookes University and an MSc Purchasing and Supply Chain Management from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland.
A family man, Brush Oulai lives in Welling, Kent with his wife Rose and two lovely daughters, Taddy and Deslay.
