About Jenny Uglow

Jenny Uglow is a prize-winning author and biographer. She was Chair of the Royal Society of Literature 201416. Her books include bestselling biographies of Elizabeth Gaskell and William Hogarth. Natures Engraver: A Life of Thomas Bewick won the National Arts Writers Award; A Gambling Man: Charles II and the Restoration was shortlisted for the Samuel Johnson Prize; Edward Lear: A Life of Art and Nonsense was the winner of the Hawthornden Prize. She is also the author of Walter Crane in the Thames & Hudson series The Illustrators (2019).
