Puffin Classics: the definitive collection of timeless stories, for every child

Rediscover the Puffin Classics collection and bring the best-loved classics to a new generation - including this charming, abridged edition of The Three Musketeers, designed for readers aged 9-12 years.

When young D'Artagnan comes to Paris to seek his fortune, he is challenged to a duel with not one, but three of the king's Musketeers. But Athos, Porthos and Aramis become his trusted friends as he tries to prove himself worthy of becoming a fourth Musketeer.

This is an abridged edition of the classic novel, designed for younger readers.

Alexander Dumas was born in 1802 at Villes-Cotterets. He received very little education but when he entered the household of the future king, Louis-Philippe, he began to read veraciously and then to write. In 1839 he began writing novels dealing with the wars of religion and the Revolution, but he is most remembered for his historical novels, The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers.
