This edition has been freshly updated alongside the play's West End revival in 2026.

Two couples.
Friendship, suspicion, deceit.
And the truth.

Florian Zeller's The Truth, in this English translation by Christopher Hampton, premiered at the Menier Chocolate Factory, London, in 2016. It was revived in June 2026 at the Apollo Theatre, London.

Christopher Hampton was born in the Azores in 1946. He wrote his first play, When Did You Last See My Mother? at the age of eighteen. He is an acclaimed translator of plays by Ibsen, Molière, von Horváth, Chekhov and Yasmina Reza (including Art and God of Carnage).

Florian Zeller (b. 1979) is a French novelist and playwright, and one of the youngest ever Members of the Académie Française. His plays include The Father, The Mother, The Son and The Height of the Storm.
