This sixth edition of Tony Bush’s bestselling text explores the links between educational management theories and the main models of leadership, and their application to policy and practice globally across varied educational contexts.

This fully updated new edition:

  • Acknowledges the global significance of educational leadership and management by including much more material from a wide range of international settings.
  • Extends educational leadership theory beyond the well-established Global North models to include indigenous concepts, notably Ubuntu, Confucianism and Islamic theory.
  • Heavily updates theoretical discussion to reflect contemporary developments in academic and research literature.
This is essential reading for all teachers who aspire to management, experienced leaders on Master′s level courses, and for those studying school management as part of education degrees.
