Lola and Maryanne have been BESTIES ever since they were kids growing up on the Tiwi Islands. They are very different, but they both LOVE hunting and can't wait to go out own their own! A hilarious adventure written by students at Tiwi College with David Lawrence and Shelley Ware as part of the ILF Create initiative.

Lola and Maryanne have been BESTIES ever since they were attacked by a plover when they were kids.

They are very different. Lola is brave and Maryanne laughs like a seal. But they both LOVE hunting!
It's bush holidays and they are about to go camping and hunting with Lola's mum, Bri, her Nanna Ticky and her dog called TROUBLE.

The girls are especially excited because Nanna Ticky said they could go hunting on their OWN for the very first time.

What could go wrong as they hunt for kuluwarringa, kirimpika, yilinga, jukwarringa and piranga?
Probably a LOT.

Located at Pickataramoor on Melville Island, Tiwi College is a secondary boarding school owned and managed by the Tiwi people to provide quality education for young Tiwi.

Tiwi Girl Hunters was produced as part of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation's Create Initiative. For a week in November 2023, eight young Indigenous women from Tiwi College visited Sydney, where, together with Hachette Australia staff and two mentors - David Lawrence and Shelley Ware - they created this book.
