This anthology contains three plays (Ceremonial Kisses, Shading the Crime, and The Maternal Cloister) that feature a protagonist who is compelled to confront his or her particular oppressors. Christine Roberts works as a Senior Lecturer in Theatre & Performance at the University of Plymouth, England. She is also a founder member of the theatre company Lusty Juventus. She has been writing professionally since 1996 and has had four of her plays performed nationally. Ceremonial Kisses was the first play performed by Lusty Juventus and was selected by The Times as one of the highlights of the 1997 Edinburgh Fringe Festival; the company later performed this play in London, Bristol and Exeter. Shading the Crime was the second of her plays for Lusty Juventus and was later selected to open The Courtyard Theatre, Hereford in a production by Ellie Parker (1998).
