In the sixteenth century Totnes became one of the twenty richest towns in the country, thanks to Dartmoor tin and the cloth trade. Over sixty houses from this period still remain in the main street.
David Vidden's interest in photography stems from his days at King Edward VI Grammar School in Totnes in the late 1940's. He has returned to Totnes and district regularly for the last fifty years and has recorded the changing town over this period. David now lives in Walsall and is the author of seven books for Sutton Publishing.
