Founded in the fifth century and nestled on the banks of the Boyne, the historic and picturesque town of Trim has a rich and vibrant history which is uniquely captured in this collection of archive images. Many of the photographs were taken by Anne Crinion, a freelance photographer for many years. Featuring local landmarks, people and snapshots of ordinary daily routines, each accompanied by a detailed caption, they portray the development of the town and show how life here has changed over the years.

The authors Anne and Jake Crinion are grandmother and grandson, two different generations with the same love and passion for their hometown of Trim. Anne started her photography career in the early 1960s with a camera (a Ricohflex) purchased for her by her bother Matt; she started with wedding photography and very soon she was developing and printing from her own darkroom. Her work was much sought after by local media and press and many of her photographs are used in this book. Anne is also a fine artist and two of her paintings were purchased for the Government Collection. Anne’s son Peter, who now resides in Australia, inherited his mother’s love for photography and he later became a videographer. Peter is a collector of old photographs from his home town, some of which are also featured in this publication. Anne’s grandson and co-author, Jake, is not camera shy either; a film graduate and actor he is comfortable on both sides of the camera, having worked as an extra on well-known television series such as Vikings and Penny Dreadful and on many independent films as both featured actor and filmmaker. Jake has also scripted, directed and filmed a number of music videos.
