Read fan-favourite children’s book Trudy’s Healing Stone in Gitxsanimaax, the Gitxsan language. Approved by the author, Trudy Spiller, and translated by Katie Ludwig, with the assistance of a Gitxsan Elder to ensure cultural safety and authenticity.

With the intention to assist in language preservation while making cultural stories more accessible to Indigenous Peoples, this series of translated books promote the learning of Indigenous languages for all ages with the help of popular and familiar stories.

Everyone gets sad, angry, frustrated, and disappointed. Difficult emotions are a natural part of life. Trudy Spiller shares a special teaching about a practice that anyone can use to help them process their feelings with the help of Mother Earth.

Trudy Spiller is part of the Gitxsan Nation in British Columbia and belongs to the House of Gwininitxw of the Wolf Clan. Trudy’s traditional name, Lugaganowals, means a frog that is always leaning or giving. Trudy and her siblings were brought up to believe that children are like flowers. Today, she helps families to grow and flourish by sharing her knowledge of First Nation medicine, food, dress, and practices. By sharing her stories, Trudy makes knowledge keepers of us all.

Rumor has it that Jessika von Innerebner was born with a crayon in her hand. An illustrator with a passion for color and comedy, she can draw her way out of almost anything! What she loves most is bringing engaging visuals to child-oriented projects. Jessika started her career at age seventeen and has worked on colorful, creative ideas for Disney, Pixar, Atomic Cartoons and Fisher Price. Jessika lives in Kelowna, British Columbia.
