Tom Walkinshaw was a successful racing driver who parlayed his knowledge of top level race preparation and driving into a career as a team boss. He first of all steered BMW racecars to success, followed by Rover and Mazda, then lured Jaguar, recently privatised again from the clutches of BLMC, into the realm of World Class Endurance racing, resulting in wins at the Le Mans 24 Hour race and the Daytona 24 Hour race, and scooping the World Manufacturers’ Championship prize.
John Starkey is a self-confessed racing fanatic, has owned many different sports cars, and has competed in hill-climbs, rallies and vintage sports car races since the 1960s. Originally from Birmingham in the UK, John’s early career included managing the comedian Jasper Carrott and curating the famous Donington racing car collection. He now lives in Florida, where he runs a racing car business, and works as a consultant, researcher and author. He has written a number of motor racing history books published by Veloce.
