Updating Midlife

"Midlife" is a concept used everywhere and from many different vertexes, though mostly imprecisely, even within the psychoanalytic paradigm. This book tries to settle its proper meaning through the challenge of laying the foundations for the development of a true psychoanalytic metapsychology for "midlife", something that the editors believe in psychoanalysis was lacking. From this viewpoint, they invited fourteen renowned psychoanalysts to share their ideas about the issue. The outcome of that work is Updating Midlife: Psychoanalytic Perspectives, which, in addition to the various contributions, includes an introductory paper by the editors. This book is a true step forward in the development of a specific metapsychology for "midlife".The book includes contributions by Alcira Mariam Alizade (Argentina), Christopher Bollas (UK), Stefano Bolognini (Italy), Calvin A. Alicia Mirta Ciancio de Montero, PsyD is a clinical, training, and supervising psychoanalyst, and full member of the International Psychoanalytical Association, and of the Argentine Psychoanalytic Association. She also teaches at the Institute of Psychoanalysis and co-coordinates the study group: Metapsychology of Midlife. She is the current executive president of Fundacion Travesia (Psychoanalysis for Midlife Transition and Crisis). She is the co-author of the books 'Para comprender la mediana edad: historias de vida' and 'Mediana edad: estudios psicoanaliticos', as well as the author of numerous papers delivered at different national and international psychoanalytic congresses. Guillermo Julio Montero Psy.D. is a clinical, training and supervising psychoanalyst as well as a Magister in Psychoanalysis. He is a full member of the International Psychoanalytical Association, and of the Argentine Psychoanalytic Association. He also teaches at the Institute of Psychoanalysis and co-coordinates the Study Group: Metapsychology of Midlife. He is the President of Fundacion Travesia (Psychoanalysis for Midlife Transition and Crisis). He is the author of 'La travesia por la mitad de la vida: exegesis psicoanalitica', as well as the co-author of the books 'Para comprender la mediana edad: historias de vida' and 'Mediana edad: estudios psicoanaliticos', and the author of numerous papers delivered at different national and international psychoanalytic congresses, several of them published at psychoanalytic magazines in Brazil, USA, Spain and Korea. Liliana Singman de Vogelfanger Psy.D. is a clinical psychoanalyst and associate member of the International Psychoanalytical Association, and of the Argentine Psychoanalytic Association. She also teaches at the Institute of Psychoanalysis and co-coordinates the Study Group: Metapsychology of Midlife. She is a member of Fundacion Travesia (Psychoanalysis for Midlife Transition and Crisis), and the co-author of 'Mediana edad: estudios psicoanaliticos', as well as the author of numerous papers delivered at different national and international psychoanalytic congresses.
