Allan Frost was born and grew up in Wellington, Shropshire. His family has lived in the area for well over 250 years (despite occasional attempts to destroy themselves by explosions, mining disasters, etc.), which may explain why he is driven to discover more about the area's past, and to preserve those findings in a series of popular histories. He has also published many other books, including novels, and often gives talks to clubs, societies and schools. Founder chairman of Wellington History Group, his advice on matters of local history is sought by family researchers, local government organisations and the Press.
