Do you know who owns these woods?
Who owns old oak and pointy pine?
Who owns root and branch and leaf;
who calls this forest "MINE"?
Follow a little boy and his grandma as they wander through the wild and wonderful woods. From the forest creatures who scamper, crawl or fly through the leaves to the trees and plants which sway with the breeze, the woods are full of curious and beautiful life. As the boy is introduced to more and more of the phenomenons of the forest, he begins to ask an important question: Who owns the woods?
This thought-provoking picture book teaches readers to appreciate how special the great outdoors is and encourages them to play their part in protecting it. Beautiful artwork from Jess Mason perfectly captures how untameable and sublime nature can be, and flowing, lyrical text from Emily Hibbs explores how we can enjoy nature in a respectful way.
Emily grew up in the West Midlands, studied English Literature with Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, then spent several years working in-house at various children's book publishers. She now lives in the Oxfordshire countryside, near the River Thames, and loves to write books about the natural world and all the amazing creatures in it. Jess Mason is an illustrator, cat lover and reader of books. She graduated from the University of Worcester with a First in Illustration in 2018, and was awarded the Otter Barry Narrative Illustration prize. Since then, she has worked on a variety of middle grade books and picture books and is proud to be represented by Plum Pudding Illustration Agency. She lives in Worcestershire with her cat Steve and her human Mike.
