Each winter, food photographer and recipe developer Shellie Froidevaux makes the Arctic her second home, hosting travel groups in traditional cabins across Sweden and Norway. The Winter Cabin Cookbook brings together treasured dishes from her travels, influenced by local cooks, seasonal ingredients and the charm of winter traditions.

From cosy soups and Nordic-style seafood to comforting bakes and fika (coffee break) treats, this book is filled with recipes shaped by long nights, glowing fires and the pleasure of sharing something good. Inside you'll find:
Small Bites: Shrimp & Avocado Sliders, Skyr Flatbreads with Herb Butter, Dandelion Honey Cheese Bites.
Soups & Starters: Mushroom & Celeriac Soup, Easy Chunky Crayfish Chowder, Potato Pizza with Yarrow.
Main Courses: Roast Pork Loin with Pink Peppercorn Sauce, Smoked Char Penne with Lemon, Wild Trout with Lemon Butter & Almonds.
Salads, Sides & Sauces: Crunchy Apple & Root Veg Salad, Burnt Butter Mashed Potatoes, Nettle Pesto.
Fika: Cardamon Buns, Swedish Raspberry Thumbprint Biscuits, Liquorice Girl Meringue Kisses.
Cakes & Desserts: Red Wine & Chocolate Mud Cake, Bilberry & Thyme Lemon Tart, Nordic Mess.
Drinks: Swedish Mulled Wine, Rhubarb & Lemon Spritz, Winter Hot Chocolate.

Every recipe is written for home kitchens with easy ingredients swaps and ideas, so you can make the most of what is simple to find wherever you are. There are also travel stories and stunning photos of the Arctic throughout.

Whether you are cooking for two or filling the table for friends, this cookbook invites you to gather close and enjoy the comfort of good food during the colder months.
Shellie Froidevaux is a recipe developer and food and lifestyle photographer who divides her time between Australia and the Arctic. Every year, Shellie and her photographer husband, Ewen Bell, run private photography tours called Polar Nights Aurora Workshop. During these tours, Shellie acts as the private chef, cooking for groups of up to eight people in cabins across the Arctic Circle.
