This is a laugh-out-loud guide to the weird and wonderful world of sharks – from sharks that can walk on land, to sharks that glow in the dark, to sharks that fart to swim deeper (yes, really).

Did you know...

  • There's a species of shark that can swim faster than a jet ski?
  • Or that some sharks like eating vegetables?
  • Or that playing 'Baby Shark' is the most effective way to annoy a shark?

(OK, maybe that last one isn't scientifically proven...)

From the creators of popular webcomic The Life of Sharks, this is a funny and almost 100% factual guide to the ocean's most misunderstood creature.

Perfect for landlubbers aged 7+ who want to learn more about their finned friends!

Christian Talbot (Author)
Christian struggles to adequately explain what he does. He’s from Dublin but somehow ended up living in Northern Ireland with his wife, Gayle and dog, Sam. In the past, at various times, he’s been an academic (Social Anthropology), the director of an IT/Finance company and a stand-up comedian. He’s performed 6 solo stand-up shows, 2 one-man plays and 2 sketch shows (with former comedy partner Rosie Holt) at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Christian spends most of his time writing The Life of Sharks, maintaining its social media presence and screen printing t-shirts, making mugs etc for customers of their online store. The rest of the time he spends making guitars and wishing Aaron Sorkin would write another great TV series.

Sophie Hodge (Illustrator)
Sophie is an illustrator living in London, UK. In her daily life, Sophie is a Product Designer who works on websites and apps. In a previous career, she worked for a mental health charity, and continues to be interested in research and fostering inclusivity.

She met Christian at a comedy festival in Melbourne, Australia in 2017 where their friendship and shared sense of humour began. He later discovered her love of drawing and the Life of Sharks became her first illustration gig. Little did she know, her sketches would go on to be shared worldwide, sparking the phenomenon that is the Life of Sharks.
