Philip M. Worthington was born in 1926 in Leek Staffordshire where his family had been mill owners for three generations. He graduated from Nottingham University with a degree in engineering and had a successful career as a consulting engineer and industrial economist. He has been chairman of a number of companies in the UK and his own company specialised on business consulting.
Philip has pursued an interest in genealogy since his early twenties which was inspired by his cousin, Percy W. L. Adams, the pottery manufacturer and wrote two previous books - the Worthingtons of Medieval England and the Worthingtons of Failsworth.
