Written by a poet who has lived in Yorkshire for over 35 years, this work portrays the county and its people in a series of gentle anecdotes, including "Life in a Small Village", "Asian Dancing in Huddersfield", "Walking the Pennine Way", and "The Choral Singing Tradition". It also explores diverse elements of life in Yorkshire.

Ian Emberson was born in Sussex in 1936. He has lived in Yorkshire for over 35 years, currently in the small town of Todmorden - just within the Yorkshire boundary, despite the postal address. For many years he was Music Librarian at Huddersfield, but has now retired in order to concentrate on writing and art. He also enjoys walking and swimming and is a life-member of the Gaskell and Bronte Societies. This is his eighth book.
