Zippo is fed up with being an ordinary hippo. He wants to have a super power – something exciting, something amazing, something BIG! But being good at swimming and splashing in mud aren't considered superpowers. Perhaps he can learn to fly like his best friend Roxi the oxpecker. But who's ever heard of a flying hippopotamus? Especially one with such a big bottom . . .
From the bestselling author/illustrator pairing of You're Called What?!, Kes Gray and Nikki Dyson, Zippo the Super Hippo is fantastically funny, and this big-bottomed superhero will be flying into children's imaginations everywhere!
Kes Gray is an author of more than fifty books for children of all ages, including the acclaimed Daisy series illustrated by Nick Sharratt. As well as winning the Red House Children's Book Award for Eat Your Peas, Billy's Bucket and Daisy and the Trouble With Zoos, Kes was noted by The Independent as one of the top ten children's authors in the UK only a year after publishing his first book. If Kes could have a superpower, he'd like to have the ability to evaporate people who look at their mobile phones in cinemas. Kes lives in Essex with his wife, children and an assortment of animals.
Nikki Dyson graduated in Illustration in 2006 and has worked as an illustrator ever since. She illustrated You're Called What?! and is very experienced at drawing superheroes, having also illustrated How to Be a Superhero written by Sue Fliess. When she's not busy creating superheroes, Nikki enjoys reading and watching cartoons. If she could have a superpower of her own, it would be to have supersonic speed so she could draw twice as much! Nikki lives and works from her home in Oxfordshire.
