James has recently been heralded as ‘the new king of historical fiction’ by respected British newspaper The Scotsman, in the publication’s review of James’ acclaimed novella MAD KING ROBIN, a thrilling story about the famous Scottish king Robert the Bruce.
He was born and raised in Malta, an island nation influenced by thousands of years of imperial history, from the Romans to the British. His burning passion for exciting and dramatic historical events was forged in this environment.
After reading law and history at the Universities of both Malta and Sydney, James qualified as a lawyer and also completed a doctoral thesis on the rights and freedoms of peoples at international law. He subsequently worked for years on editing and publishing content for various multinational government bodies like the European Union as well as US and Australian corporations.
Upon emigrating to Sydney in 2007, James turned his hand to novel writing, crafting dramatic and well-researched stories about various peoples’ struggle for freedom.
His debut novel THE SHERIFF’S CATCH is a highly acclaimed thriller, which recounts the adventures of a Spanish Armada castaway in Tudor Ireland, who joins in the great struggle to liberate western Ireland from brutal suppression. Following its release in 2018, the novel made bestseller lists in Europe and was also named an ‘Outstanding Historical’ by the IAN Book Awards in 2019, while receiving various other international awards and nominations.
