A New Life emerging from Early Retirement

Review in Aberystwyth EGO April 2021. There are lots of early retirement manuals out there, but this one''s appeal is its very personal tone. This book is an easy, almost chatty, guide, but don''t be fooled. It is full of wise words. As I read, I thought I could hear Gary''s voice, carefully reviewing the options, pressing the value of planning, and stressing the importance of treating life as the real thing, the here and now - not a rehearsal for something in the far off future. The first part deals with the pros and cons of retiring early, the second part is the heart of the book. it is about financial planning including trying to get rid of any debt before retiring. The third section deals with using your time after retirement. If the book has a message, it is that life should be lived. Early retirement is a way of enriching life, and the more pre-planning you do, the better. This is a simply written, informative and unpretentious book. If you are thinking about retirement, it is worth a read. Sections from the review by Tom O''Malley
