About Steve Smallman

Steve Smallman worked as a childrens book illustrator for 20 years before he decided to have a go at writing his own. Now over 100 books later hes still at it! He visits schools libraries and festivals and paints murals too! When hes not working he enjoys holidays watching TV gardening and juggling grandchildren! Robert Starling is happiest when he is drawing and now divides his time between illustrating for his own stories and for others. A former teacher he now enjoys performing stories and running workshops. When not drawing Robert can be found doing daddy duties brewing strong coffee or thinking about cake.
