About David Peak

David Peak has written since his teenage years and wouldnt quite know what to do with himself otherwise. After leaving school he worked in a spectacle-case manufacturers as a progress-chaser. Since he made little meaningful progress of his own in this he left in 1979 to study at the University of The West of England. Here lecturer and author Tom Ingram whod read some of Daves writing advised him to apply to The University of East Anglias new MA in Creative Writing. Accepted onto the course in 1982 under the tutelage of Malcolm Bradbury and Angela Carter Dave continued to work on a piece which would eventually become his first published novel: 'No.4 Pickle Street' whose critical acclaim led to it being re-published in paperback with Abacus in 1991. Over the next few years 'The Cotoneaster Factor' and 'Go Gentle' were also published by Fourth Estate both again very well received. In this new Millennium the growing intrusion of the Internet upon the writing craft necessitated a different approach. The result was that Dave was eventually nudged into self-publishing and discovered after careful research SilverWood Books whose principles and working practices impressed and reassured him in equal measure. In this way 'Miss Woo Country' came out in 2016 'Curious Things Etc.' in 2017. 2018 saw the arrival of 'Aphrodesia'. Meanwhile 'The Elephant Box' a previously written but unpublished novel has been published with SilverWood as an e-book. In the last two years Dave has been working on a two volume novel: Part one 'Earthling' was published in early 2020 and herein is the second volume: 'Earthling Too'. www.davepeak.co.uk
